An elevator to space.

Many kinds of contests are conducted throughout the world and the prizes of these contests are usually good enough to satisfy the winner.A few contests give a prize of a lucrative sum.The idea appears to be a little crazy but NASA has put up 2 million dollars for a contest in encouraging the design of elevator to space. It may sound as a science fiction, but today new technologies such as improved laser bound beamed energy systems and super fast carbon nano tube fibers are making it a little closer towards reality.
The prize money announced is very attractive. So many elevator companies are trying and competing with each other to acquire the design first.there are two problems to be overcome.First we must create better energy beams and stronger cables to carry loads into space.Second a new kind of material made of carbon molecules arranged in a cylinder a 'nanotube' which will have strength and flexibility. We have to make miles of carbon nanotube material into a reliable cable to support an elevator to and from space.
