world's first transplant of two full arms

The patient a German farmer who lost both his arms in an accident was operated on July 25 and 26 by a team of medical people.The team performed the first transplant of two full arms on the farmer.the operation took place for 15 hours.the patient was living without arms for 6 years since the accident.The head of the transplant team christop Hoehnke was deeply moved as the man's wife went to his bed side after the operation and habitually reached for his hands.

The patient was in good condition but it could take two years before he has feeling in his fingertips again.Also the real challenge came in finding a suitable donor who matched the patient's sex,age,skin color and blood type.The donor died only hours before the accident
